Erik Seidel isn't known for sharing his secrets to poker success. But by joining ProPlay you have a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best. Erik is well respected by his peers not only because he is a World Class player, but also because of his keen intellect and reputation as an unassuming person and overall nice guy.
He excels at playing with a diverse mix of opponents, changing gears and basically just adapting to the dynamic situations every player encounters at the poker table. Erik is considered by many to be one of the top ten No Limit Holdem tournament players in the world but doesn't seek the spotlight.
Erik's poker experience runs deep. In the 1970s Seidel started playing backgammon professionally. He hung out at the Mayfair Club, the legendary New York card room where backgammon and bridge games were played regularly. Like many other backgammon-turned-poker-players like Dan Harrington and Gus Hansen, he started spending less time playing backgammon and more time playing poker.
His poker game steadily improved and in 1988 Erik played his first WSOP after being staked by close friends. He played in 9 satellites, busting out in all 9. Undeterred, he played strong in the Main Event, to place second in a heads-up battle against Johnny Chan.
Erik also starred in a humorous tongue-in-cheek commercial for Full Tilt, where he is more heard than seen, with his numerous (8 to be exact) WSOP bracelets clanging together to get the attention of some inquisitive players who up and left in the middle of Howard Lederer explaining how hard it was to win just two bracelets.
Erik is currently in the top 15 all time WSOP money winners list and continues to play in major tournaments throughout the world. ProPlayLive.com is truly honored to have Mr. Seidel as part of our instructor team.
